Piña
Piña (pine) is part of a series I began during the
beginning of the pandemic. She expresses my feeling of
cocooning at home and the conflicting emotions of loss,
on one hand, and wonder at Nature’s continuing on,
despite our human drama. 2020 was also a year filled
with wildfires worldwide, events that threatened many
beloved places and people dear to me.
Did you know that some pine trees can hold onto their
seeds through fire, for up to ten years, in order to revive
and survive? In these uncertain times, may we all hold
the seeds of hope in our hearts for healing and renewing
our connection to each other.
