Lindsay Kohles received her Bachelor of Fine Arts "with Excellence" in Printmaking, with a BA in Creative Writing, and a minor in Art History, from Western Washington University in 2010. She lives, works, and plays in Bellingham, WA. She started painting with ink after graduating to create highly detailed portraits of subtly altered creatures. By combining elements of different animals, she changes their means of communication, movement, as well as their motives, which are already often obscure to the human viewer. These creatures exist within pristine white spaces, but in this new body of work they also swim on wood panels and nestle in books.
